Pipe band do Bathgate proud with best ever World Championship finish

  • Despite being relegated to fourth, the Bathgate band had their best finish at the World Championships

There were celebrations as Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band achieved their best-ever finish at the World Pipe Band Championships in front of a global audience - although tinged with disappointment as a judges' error relegated them to fourth place.

The local band had thought they'd clinched third at the World Championship elite group, only to find that Simon Fraser University from Vancouver were to take the bronze after the two bands finished tied on 27 points.

However, despite this slight disappointment, the Bathgate band were still elated at their best-ever placing - and are now setting their sight on next year's championships, where they hope to go even better.
